Who decides what is normal

who decides what is normal? not me that is for sure. I spent the night celebrating birthdays and studying. I guess that is normal. My music for the night was a mix of faith no more and the best of Beethoven. is that normal? I was wondering why my FNM was sounding abnormal and badly recorded and i was getting upset that there was something wrong with it. then i realized that i had turned the bass off on my subwoofer. idiot. i guess that is normal.

Is normal fitting in? I look around myself all the time everywhere that I am to see what is normal. I group everyone and everything i see into groups of normal and not normal. My groups are abnormal for one thing. They are mostly based on the situation that i am in at that time. Is it normal for this man to be sitting in the Obstetrics blood collection all by himself? Normal? hmmm. why are there more beds in the hospital hallways than in actual rooms. all of them with signs on them stating when they are to be fixed. dude thats messed up.

most people and things are abnormal and thus normal.

Long time

IT has been a long while since i wrote anything substantial here. and by the way this is starting this is not going to fix that. Where has the Sneakydog been? Home mostly. we had 70 cm of snow this week so i have been kept busy shovelling and then recovering from shoveling. Plus I had a final exam on Monday and the new course (2 weeks long) started on Tuesday and now i am halfway through that trying to get things organized. Gotta love medical school. I then have another course that starts the day after this one ends (next tuesday) and that is a 3 week MSK course which i am not looking forward to. I would love to give a big rant today but lately i just have not had the ability to rant. why? cause i am worn the ef out. you need energy to rant like a pro.

I did however pick up another bug today in the hospital. One of the benefits of working there all the time is that you can pick up the most lovely stomach bugs all the time. there is a big outbreak of Norwalk virus in the two main hospitals. visitors are restricted and there is a lot of media coverage. I think this is what i picked up today or maybe something a little weaker as i have not pumped ship yet today. I just need to get my strength back so i can continue my fight and make it to mid-term break. late march cant come fast enough.

Why?

Just spent the greater part of the day fixing computers. New computers that don't work well at all. Brand new, more ram than you can shake a stick at, big empty drive, but full of incompatible software (Norton, Windows!!!!) and glitches. This runs XP so i am not sure what Vista will be like. however, i am sure it will be a bigger more bloated version of XP with more security curtains. Why anyone would purposely use a windows based machine is beyond me. they are slow sluggish and full of problems. I have yet to find a windows computer that just runs. Just runs, nothing else. There are the people out there that say that they have no problems with their PC. it always works fine. Bullshit! You are just used to fixing it. it is like driving a run down car. you don't notice all the crap that is wrong with it as long as it still goes forward. So you are used to your shitty computer and all the little things that go wrong with it that you have become very good at fixing. You are lying to yourself. A computer should never need to be fixed. turn it on, use it, enjoy it. Nothing else. maybe some maintenance or new setup every now and then but no problems.

Let me give all you non beleivers a job. Try to use your PC (Running Windows of any kind) for as long as you can with out tweaking it in anyway at all. I bet you cant make it a week. This means no restarts (if your computer crashes you lose), no driver uninstalls/reinstalls/refreshes/no restore points/no spyware removal/no program uninstall/reinstall, no program "Repairs" nothing that will fix a non-working part of the computer in any way. Now if a security update comes from Windows (and it will) go ahead and install it. I don't want to be the one responsible for you aiding terrorist activity or anything due to a Windows security hole. But other than that see how long you computer will stand on its own two feet without you having to step in. The last time my mac was off was when the power went last summer.

I use a Mac and have always used a mac. I also fix macs on the side. Boy, is that business ever slow. It is ridiculous. I haven't had to fix a mac since OSX came out. I am not saying they are superior. But why would you purposely use a PC with windows on it?

For Shame

Exxon Mobil posts record profit of 39.5 BILLION DOLLARS!

wow that is a lot of money. I do not understand corporate structures that much but personally, I don't feel that this is necessary with over a billion people in the world living under the poverty line (less than a dollar a day) and twice that living on less than 2 dollars a day. How much is enough. the 25 billion is profit, not gross sales. that is some serious cash. But that goes to share holders. 25 billion in left over cash is a lot of money to play with. and you wonder why the hybrids and fuel cell cars are taking so long to be developed. Why isn't there a hydrogen pump station at every corner? Big Oil baby! they lobby the shit out of the Govt. stop grants for alternative fuel research. just impeded the process as much as possible in any way that they can. Ahh well, that is my rant for the day. like i said, i don't understand corporate structures that much.

PS: SHELL POSTS RECORD PROFIT OF 25 BILLION DOLLARS.
Man I am in the wrong business. What is going on in the world? Why cant the headlines read, average medical student posts record profit. Or gets record price for sperm donation. you would be surprised what you sell if you were offered the right amount. Shame on Big Oil? Or shame on me?
